About Eckard Riedenklau

Eckard Riedenklau received his diploma (Master’s degree) in Computer Science from Bielefeld University in 2009. Since August 2009 he was PhD student in the CITEC institute, working in the Ambient Intelligence Group , lead by Dr. Thomas Hermann and the Neuroinformatics Group , lead by Prof. Dr. Helge Ritter and received his PhD in July 2015.

In his PhD project Tangible Active Objects (TAOs) he focused on Human Computer Interfaces (HCI) and Tangible Interaction in combination with Robotics.

In this project a novel Human Computer Interaction (HCI) approach was developed. Small-sized reconfigurable robots, so called TAOs, with multi-modal input and output capabilities can act as an embodiment of data.

Thereby existing Tangible User Interfaces (TUIs) can be extended with active feedback capabilities or even completely new aplications can be developed, e.g. in the field of assistive systems.
